Harrison, Texas: Eight Television Plays

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1956.

Sold

Hardcover. First edition. A faint spot on the top edge, else fine in an attractive, slightly rubbed and age-toned, very good plus, price-clipped dustwrapper. The author's uncommon and influential first book, published simultaneously with his novel *The Chase.* Originally broadcast in 1953 and 1954, the teleplay of *A Trip to Bountiful* featured Lillian Gish and Eva Marie Saint and was later adapted for the stage. Foote also wrote the screenplay for the 1985 feature film version directed by Peter Masterson and featuring Geraldine Page, who won an Academy Award for Best Actress. Foote was nominated for his screenplay, but unlike his wins for *To Kill a Mockingbird* and *Tender Mercies*, did not take the Oscar. A very nice copy.
