Boston: Little, Brown, 1926.

Sold

Hardcover. First edition. Very slight bump to one corner, a nice, near fine copy with the paper labels unsoiled, lacking the rare dustwrapper. Drama-themed bookplate, and pencil signature of Leo B. Pride. Among other things Pride wrote *International Theatre Directory: A World Directory of the Theatre and Performing Arts*, (1973). A play about the ultimate domineering wife, winner of the 1926 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Basis for three films in 1928, 1936, and 1950; with Irene Rich, Rosalind Russell and Joan Crawford each assaying the title role. The 1936 version with Russell is particularly notable and was the actress's first major success. Several of Kelly's other plays were also filmed, and he was the uncle of screen legend Grace Kelly. An exceptionally scarce book in the first edition.
