Paths of Glory

New York: Viking, 1935.

Price: $150.00

Hardcover. First edition. Very near fine in a near fine dustwrapper with very slight rubbing, and a couple of tiny tears. One of the great antiwar novels, based on real incidents during WWI. The film rights were purchased two decades later by Kirk Douglas, who hired the relatively unknown Stanley Kubrick to direct. Starring Douglas and Adolphe Menjou and scripted by Kubrick, Jim Thompson, and Calder Willingham, the film was a technical and critical triumph and ranks with *All Quiet on the Western Front* as perhaps the greatest antiwar film. A very nice copy.
