Hardcover. Second edition. Two volumes. Octavos. Contemporary speckled calf, gilt spine and edges, marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled red. Small ownership label on the front fly leaves. The leather binding is rubbed with some scuffing to the joints and edges, the front joint of volume two is partially split and has a one-inch chip from the bottom of the spine back, else a very good set, the interior text pages are clean and bright. A leading bluestocking educator, writer, and philanthropist, Hannah More also made her reputation as a poet and playwright in the circle of Johnson, Joshua Reynolds, and David Garrick.
