Hardcover. First edition. Boards very slightly sunned, else fine in a lightly spine-tanned, near fine dustwrapper. Laid into the book is a letter to Howard from his literary agent about assigning copyright for one of his plays. Howard has written a brief, acerbic note back to his agent in the margins of the letter, and Initialed it "S.H." Howard's first published, and first produced play, appearing when he was thirty. Howard won further success both as a playwright, winning a Pulitzer Prize; and as a screenwriter, winning a posthumous Academy Award for *Gone With the Wind* after his tragic death in 1939.
