Hardcover. First edition. Slight soiling to the foredge, else about fine. Inscribed by the author: "To Dear Eve [or Eva] with love from 'The Afrikan Cat.' Yonkers Nov. 3/08." Laid in, on "Olmsted & Co., Japan" stationery are two pages of manuscript poetry intended to supplement certain chapters of the book – the poems are titled "To head a Chapter about the Old Duck," "To head a Chapter bringing in Brave Captain Hawk," and "Chapter II: The Robins." The poems treat of different characters in the book, but are not printed in the book. Manuscript leaves are folded and have small tears.
