Inscribed contemporarily, apparently in an attempt to preserve his anonymity: "To Mr. P.A. Espendy, Director, who has already shown kindness and friendship to The Author. New York, March 28, 1962." The author's second book, and probably his scarcest, like his first published under a pseudonym and before he became famous for his arresting and controversial fiction.
