I-III in clothbacked pictorial boards, Vols. IV-VI in pictorial boards. Vol. I cocked with the top corners of the boards gently bumped, Vol. III with the spine gilt dulled, and Vols. IV-VI gently bumped at the corners and spine ends, near fine in very good or better dust jackets with modest general wear, Vols. I and II price-clipped, several tiny chips, tears, and creases, the spine lettering of the volume numbers sunned, and Vol. VI with a 1½" tear and some creasing along the topedge of the cover panel. Covering the period 1822-1879, the subtitles are: *I Will Be Heard!; A House Dividing Against Itself; No Union With Slave Holders; From Disunionism to the Brink Of War; Let The Oppressed Go Free;* and *To Rouse The Slumbering Land*.
