Thunderball

London: Jonathan Cape, (1961).

Price: $750.00

Hardcover. First edition, original black cloth with blind stamped skeletal hand on upper cover. A bit cocked, small stain on the front fly and a little on edge of the pages good or better in good unclipped first issue dust jacket with rubbing, shallow loss at the spine ends, and faint stains. James Bond shipped off to the fat farm and SPECTRE introduced. Basis for the fourth Bond film. Curiously (and much to the continued consternation of MGM/UA), the rights to this story are not tied to the rest of the James Bond franchise. Thus the *Thunderball* plot was refilmed in 1983 as *Never Say Never Again*, with Sean Connery returning to the role of 007 after a twelve year hiatus and competing in theatres with *Octopussy* (with Roger Moore as Bond). A presentable, good only copy.
