Autograph Letter Signed ("Paul Laurence Dunbar") to editor William Henry Rideing

Price: $3,500.00

Unbound. One page on a single sheet which has been folded to make four octavo pages. Old light folds from mailing, else fine. Addressed from Washington, DC and dated on the 23rd of November 1898 to Rideing in New York City. A letter from Dunbar submitting an unspecified work for publication: "I am sending you herewith a little story [no longer present] as you requested... [I]t has unfortunately run about 300 words over the limited which you set. If this, alone, should prevent its publication, I should be glad to be informed and to be allowed to cut it down... ." William Henry Rideing was an American editor and author. He worked on the staff of the *New York Tribune*, *The New York Times*, and *The Youth's Companion* among other periodicals. A nice letter fully in Dunbar's hand, and uncommon thus.
