Unbound. Black-and-white photograph measuring 5½” x 8½” tipped into unprinted, folded cardstock mat. The image depicts Smith, facing the camera, from the shoulders up, wearing a fur jacket and string of pearls. Signed with a note: "Nora Archibald Smith. Who always thinks the book she is going to write the very best of all. August, 1927." The photograph and mat are in fine condition. Smith was a children's book author, and, like her sister, Kate Douglas Wiggins, an important advocate of kindergarten education. [see *Notable American Women,* Vol. III, p. 605].
