The program for an exhibition of film history in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first showing of a moving picture to the paying public in England by the Lumière Brothers in 1896, held at the Polytechnic Regent Street (now University of Westminster). The celebration opened with an appearance by Louis Lumière, Lord Mayor Kynaston Studd, and the French Ambassador Charles Corbin. The exhibition included a recreation of the original public viewing (by film historian Will Day), views of several early silent films (*A Trip to the Moon*, *The Great Train Robbery*, *Mutiny on the Bounty*, etc.), and examples of several experimental early color films. A complete overview of the exhibit is listed, along with a printed statement by professor Robb Lawson.
