Strangers On A Train

New York: Bantam Books, (1951).

Price: $2,000.00

Softcover. First paperback edition. Perfectbound in wrappers. Near fine with a bit of light edgewear; with particularly supple interior pages. Inscribed by Highsmith: "To Al Newgarden, (This was - half of it - rewritten & finished at Yaddo.) With all good wishes, Patricia Highsmith 7 June 1991." Highsmith has also corrected the dedication, which misspelled "Virginias." Author's ingenious first novel in which two potential murderers exchange victims in order to provide alibis for each other, it established the author as a master of psychological suspense and was the basis for the memorable film adaptation by Alfred Hitchcock. She followed it with her equally successful *The Talented Mr. Ripley*.
