For reasons unknown to us, laid into the book is an envelope with Naughton's name typed in the return address addressed to John Farrar. A very uncommon novel, basis for the 1971 film *McCabe and Mrs. Miller*, directed by Robert Altman and featuring Warren Beatty and Julie Christie. A much nicer than usual copy.
