The binding has moderate edgewear, with a slight bit of fraying at tips of spine and on bottom edge of the front cover, a very good copy. The Dedication Copy, Inscribed by William T. Adams (Oliver Optic) on the front flyleaf: "Hon. Henry Ruggles, With the kindest regards of William T. Adams, 'Oliver Optic'." The printed dedication of this book states: "To my friend, Henry Ruggles, Esq., 'Consulado de Los Estados Unidos, en Barcelona, en Tiempos Pasados, When we 'Assisted' Together at a Bull-Fight in Madrid, Visited El Escorial and Toledo, and with whom the Author Reluctantly Parted at Castillejo, This volume is respectfully dedicated." The Dedication copy from a noted 19th Century children's book author.
