Hardcover. Reprint. [8]pp., 441pp., [6]pp. "Facsimile of Part of Letter to Phillips Brooks." Edited by John Albert Macy. Illustrated from black and white portraits. Gutter and rear hinge cracked with offsetting on rear endpapers, gift inscription on front fly: "HK in KC's dressingroom [sic] after *That Lady*, Nov. 30, 1949", spine sunned with ends frayed, good only being stage actress Marian Seldes' copy with her name on front fly, lacking the dust jacket. Presumably "HK" for Helen Keller and "KC" for Katharine Cornell who played Ana de Mendoza y de Gomez, Princess of Eboli and Marian Seldes played Anichu at 18, Countess of Pastrana in *That Lady* which played at the Martin Beck Theatre from Nov 22, 1949 - Jan 28, 1950. Laid in is a handwritten letter addressed to renowned playwright and actress Ruth [Gordon] and Signed by "Stan" (Stanley Musgrove). Ruth Gordon gave a speech at USC's Helen Keller Tribute. Also, laid in is a typed letter on Doubleday & Company letterhead and Signed by "Tim" [Timothy Seldes], Marian Seldes' brother and literary agent to many notable writers. An interesting association copy.
