Softcover. First editions. Two volumes. Small quartos. Volume I in Japanese; 245 [1] pp.; illustrated in black and white with diagrams and half-tone reproductions of photomicrographs. Volume II in English; 39 (also paginated 675-713), XL (plates) pp., with the plates interleaved with unpaginated descriptive leaves; illustrated with 40 black and white plates of microphotographs. Printed wrappers. Both volumes with the ownership stamp and signature of a noted American psychologist on the cover, as well as a couple of (import?) stamps within. Volume I with the paper toned and the wrappers with light soil and some wear at the spine ends. Volume II with an inked description along the upper shoulder, wrappers lightly soiled, pages toned and corners lightly creased. A just about very good set. Uncommon.
