The Five Negro Presidents According to What White People Said They Were

New York: Helga M. Rogers, 1965.

Price: $40.00

Softcover. First edition. Stapled wrappers. 19pp. Illustrated. Small owner's name on titlepage, small ink price on front wrap, near fine. Rogers was a self-taught journalist and historian who, despite little formal training was nevertheless praised by W.E.B. Du Bois, Marcus Garvey and many others for his contributions to uncovering historical facts about the American Negro. This pamphlet reconstructs old claims about the ancestry of five American Presidents, and examines some of these. Four of the Presidents in question are identified as: Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, and Harding. The fifth remains mysteriously unnamed.
