McCarthy and the Communists
Boston: The Beacon Press, 1954.
Hardcover. First edition. Octavo. 163pp. Spine and cover stained, covers slightly bowed, a very good copy lacking the dustwrapper. Inscribed by co-author and Jewish intellectual Moshe Decter: "To Adlai Stevenson from one Stevenson Democrat to another. Moshe Decter September 1954." With Adlai Stevenson's name stamp on the front fly.
McCarthy was no fan of Stevenson's, who was a character witness for Alger Hiss. In October, 1952, McCarthy delivered a thirty-minute televised address on "Communism and the Candidacy of Adlai Stevenson." A notable association from Red Scare-era America.
