Unbound. Broadside. Measuring 17” x 21¾”. Printed in red, white, and blue, Small chips and tears and creasing from folding else very good. World War I-era French language broadside proclaiming a day of celebration on July 4, 1918 in St. Aignan, France in support of their American Allied troops. Printed on the proclamation, the mayor of St. Aignan expresses his gratitude to the U.S. forces and requests French citizens show their support by celebrating Independence Day with the Americans. At the time, World War I was still ongoing as the Germans would not formally surrender until November 11th, 1918. Infantry Major Louis S. Houser of the 41st Division of the American Expeditionary Force, apparently folded the broadside and included a typed translation on the verso, which is available on request.
