Inscribed twice by the author, once on the front pastedown: "Alice S. W. Stedman March, 1905 from the author" and once on the half-title: "For my dear friend 'Missus' - and that other good fellow Harry. F, Hopkinson Smith. March 1905." also tipped-in is a very warm letter from Smith to Harry dated in 1905.
