Hardcover. First edition. A little spotting in the gutters, near fine in lightly rubbed near fine dustwrapper. Oklahoma marshall versus river pirates. A genuine cowboy in his younger years, Seltzer was considered one of the best western writers. Many of his western novels were filmed, but apparently dialogue wasn't his strong suit – all but one of the films were made in the silent era, even though he continued to write until his death in 1942. This novel was filmed twice: in 1923 directed by Lynn Reynolds, and featuring William Farnum and Wanda Hawley; and in 1927 as *Chain Lightning* directed by Lambert Hillyer, and featuring Buck Jones and Diane Ellis. A nice copy, uncommon in jacket.
