Hardcover. First edition. The usual very slight sunning at the edges of the boards else fine in very good or better first issue dustwrapper with modest toning at the spine and a faint stain also on the spine. After several one-act plays, this was Wilder’s first mature production as a dramatist. It resulted in his being awarded the Pulitzer Prize, becoming the only American author to win the prize both for drama and for fiction (in 1927 for *The Bridge of San Luis Rey*). Basis for the 1940 Sam Wood film featuring William Holden, Martha Scott, Fay Bainter, and Beulah Bondi. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Scott for Best Actress, and Aaron Copeland for the score. A nice copy.
