Native Son

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1940.

Price: $75.00

Hardcover. First book club edition, with the title, author and publisher in gilt on the spine ONLY. Very light wear at the spine ends, else near fine lacking the dustwrapper. The book club is often confused with the true first edition because it includes a first edition statement and publisher's code ("A-P"), but the bindings are completely different (the true first edition has the title and author in white and red color blocks on the cover AND spine). A nice copy of one of the indisputable mid-century classics of African-American literature.
