Leathernecks in Pink Scivvies

[San Francisco]: (Pisani Press, 1968).

Hardcover. First edition. Split at the bottom of the front joint, thus very good in very good dustwrapper with modest chips and tears. Very warmly Inscribed by the author, and beneath that is another gift inscription by Helen Hannah Campbell. Uncommon and presumably self-published autobiographical novel of a female Marine in the Second World War, by an Oakland, California native and former Marine who went to school with Richard Nixon. Campbell was National President of the Women Marine Association and recipient of numerous medals and ribbons. Both women served as a chaperone in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, and the basis for the movie *A League of Their Own*. Additionally, Helen Hannah Campbell's father was New York Yankees baseball player James "Truck" Hannah. An interesting association copy.
