New York: Grove Press / Evergreen Review, 1957-1959.
Three volumes. Octavos. Publisher's cloth binding titled in gilt. Bound without wrappers (except Volume 3, which has the front wraps bound in the rear. A little foxing on the topedge and a little on the boards of Volume 3), near fine. The first three volumes consisting of the first ten issues of the landmark literary anthology published by Grove Press and edited by Barney Rosset and Donald Allen. The magazine challenged the censorship laws of the day with a series of classic outlaw texts and brought the early stirrings of counterculture to the masses with wide distribution and a list of cutting-edge writers and poets.
