Blassingame on the front wrapper, very light chipping and wear, an evenly toned very good copy. An uncommon, extensive compendium of African-American history and recent developments in African-American society, published by the Tuskegee Institute in 1919. It contains lengthy sections on "The Negro in 1917-1918," shifting demographics, black businesses and institutions, and notable black figures, among others. This copy belonged to John W. Blassingame, noted African-American author and scholar who chaired the African-American Studies program at Yale until his death in 2000, with his ownership inscription on the front wrapper. *OCLC* locates nine copies over two records.
