Inscribed by both the author, and his wife and the dedicatee Phoebe Brand to Tony Award-winning actress Marian Seldes. Laid in is a wonderfully affectionate and amusing letter from Carnovsky to Seldes, mentioning the book. Both Carnovsky and Brand were successful actors until they were named by Elia Kazan as Communists in the HUAC Committee and were both blacklisted. A nice association.
