A small photo album depicting Kelly Field in Texas taken somewhere between 1917 and 1920. The album opens with a handwritten title reading, “Pictures from Kelly Field Texas.” Images of planes and pilots are seen throughout with some aerial views, crashes, and the main hanger. One of the early photos shows a plane making a water landing, another shows a zeppelin overhead. Another photo shows a 1917 German Stropp plane. Three of the photos show a female aviator in full gear posed in her plane captioned “Aunt Elenor” and another of a male pilot captioned “Uncle Peter.” Other images show planes overhead, pilots in a plane off a beach, and men working on planes in a hanger. The last few pages show photos from Washington, DC, including the Capital and the White House. Kelly Field became active during World War I and these photos show the early years at the field.

A nice collection of aviation photographs from World War I-era.
