Hardcover. Oblong quarto measuring 11“x 8". Screw bound, red decorative cloth boards. Contains 209 gelatin silver black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 3.5”x 2” and 5” x 3” with captions. other ephemera includes 39 full color postcards. Lacking the front board with small chips and tears to the pages, good with fine photographs.

A photo album belonging to a family traveling around Florida circa 1930. The family is accompanied by their pet dog and frequently show them interacting with other families they meet, one of which being a Seminole Native American family. Most of the photographs are of the native flora and fauna in Florida with names captioned underneath the pictures. Photos of palm, hibiscus, pine, and palmetto trees can be seen in the album as well as Kigelia or Sausage trees which have large sausage shaped pods that hang down from the branches. There are also pictures of several trees infected with a parasite that causes huge welts to form on the bark. The album has several pages dedicated to collection colorful postcards of every landmark and city the family had visited like the Everglades, Miami, Palm Beach, Tampa, St. Petersberg, and more. One of the places visited is an alligator farm in which staff would wrestle the alligators in a performance. Another is, the now closed, Jungle Island in Miami which was a zoo and theme park. Included are pictures of the family at the Marion national monument in St. Augustine. During their trip, the family is able to take a helicopter ride and take aerial photographs of the area. In one photographs the entirety of a small city can be seen below them. There are pictures of motorcycles and automobiles as well as a couple pictures of a blimp descending from the sky. The last few images are not during the family’s trip around Florida but rather depict another family from New York during the turn of the century.
