New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, (1971).
Softcover. First edition, simultaneous paperbound edition. Touch of wear at the edges else fine in wrappers. Inscribed to author Nicholas Delbanco: "For Nick Delbanco, Nostalgia & lots of good wishes - Erica (Mann) Jong." Laid in is a related two-page Typed Letter Signed from Jong to Delbanco dated March 2, 1972 with a paragraph at the ends in holograph and corrections throughout. The letter is a reply to Delbanco's invitation to Jong to do a reading at Bennington College but is largely a reminiscence of Buck Rocks, an educational summer camp in New Milford, Connecticut that they both attended. Jong mentions her best friend Amy ("whom you lusted") but that she lost contact with, the subtle distinctions of making out with boys ("to be risqué enough to be interesting, but not so risqué as get a reputation or lose one"), and a dreadful Lionel Trilling speech they both attended at Columbia University. A fun and playful letter and wonderful association copy of her first book.
