Small holograph document. 6.5" x 2". Tear repaired on verso with glassine, else near fine. In full: "Salem, April 1777. Rec. of Mr. Abr[aha]m. Watson Treasurer of the Committee of Safety etc. three shillings for assisting in removing the House furniture of Will[ia]m. Browne, Esq. Jon[atha]n. Andrew." Docketed on verso. The furniture was removed from the home of William Browne, Royalist Judge in the Massachusetss Superior Court. He evacuated from Boston with Howe in 1776. The Massachusetts legislature banished him from the state in 1778. He served as Royal Governor of Bermuda from 1781-1788. Jonathan Andrew served at Bunker Hill; Abraham Watson, of the Committee of Safety, was Anmdrew's father-in-law.
