Memoirs of Mrs. Siddons. Interspersed with Anecdotes of Authors and Actors (Two Volume Set)

London: Henry Colburn, New Burlington Street, 1827.

Price: $350.00

Hardcover. First edition. Two volumes. Octavos. A handsome set bound by Root and Son (with both half-titles present) in late 19th century three-quarter dark blue morocco and marbled paper sides, elaborate gilt spines in compartments with raised bands, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece portrait of Siddons in Vol. 1. Small faded contemporary ownership name at the top of the title page. Old dampstain to the bottom third of the text block of both volumes with the marbled front free endpapers lightly adhered to the bottom edge of the pastedowns, thus good only with some modest rubbing to the bottom edges of the covers. A scarce first edition of Sarah Siddon’s *Memoirs*, attractively bound with the elaborate gilt spines in bright, fine condition. *OCLC* locates only 5 copies.
