Photographs of GI's returning from WWII

Tacoma, Washington: Pictorial Studios, March, 1947.

Price: $275.00

Unbound. 12 sepia-toned gelatin silver photographs. Each is 7" x 5". Tiny chip, about fine, accompanied by a mailing envelope from Pictorial Studios in Tacoma to Gino Aurelio, in care of a third party in Brooklyn. Images are mostly of a mass of soldiers in winter clothing on shipboard, apparently the troopship USS General M. L. Hersey (there is one image of the ship), probably returning occupation troops from Bremerhaven, Germany. One image has the inked word "Me" and an arrow pointing to one of the soldiers. Two others are of New York Harbor (the Statue of Liberty and the skyline from the water). Aurelio, of Brooklyn, enlisted in late 1945.
