Novelization adapted from the film, and the first appearance of the story in print of the legendary Austrian film *Sodom and Gomorrah* (1922) directed by Michael Curtiz. The book has a printed dedication to him. This is the most important work of Ladislaus Vajda (1877–1933), the famed screenwriter and stage director. Leydenfrost (1888–1961), who upon arrive in America changed his first name to Alexander (and altered the spelling of his last name), was a Hungarian-born American illustrator and industrial designer who worked as an illustrator for the science fiction magazine *Planet Stories*.
