A New York family’s album beginning in 1914 and going through 1940. The album is not in chronological order and begins with a military parade in Brooklyn with rows of soldiers marching through a city street. Following this are family photos of small children and friends posed together. A photo of Madison Square Park welcoming home soldiers shows the “Arch of Freedom” that was erected to celebrate the end of the war modeled after the Arch of Constantine in Rome. The parade to welcome home the 27th Division in 1919 is also seen here. The Arch of Freedom is also seen illuminated at night which towers above the street glowing in splendor. Later in May of 1919 the 77th Division returns to New York and later the return of the 107th Field Artillery 25th Division seen departing a transport ship. Another section shows President Wilson returning from a peace conference in a motorcade as well as King Albert and Queen Elizabeth of Belgium in October of 1919. The Prospect Heights Hospital is seen in one photo as well as a 1914 baseball game. Men are posed with instruments during a “Decoration Day” parade in 1919 and later in that summer there is a photo of men during the B.R.T. (Brooklyn Rapid Transit) strike. A 1920s trip to Washington, D.C. and the surrounding area is pictured here with images of Arlington cemetery and the White House. They also visited Gettysburg battlefield and photographed canons and statues. Another baseball game is photographed with images of the game, players, and the crowd. Later photos from 1933 show the Chicago World’s Fair, including a small paper pennant laid in. They also photographed trolleys, the circus, and later Times Square. Towards the end of the album they went to a Civil War event with reenactment and veterans.

An extensive collection of photographs beginning in World War I detailing numerous events and places in the United States.
