[61]-120) save for the final leaf, is the first printing of this important and detailed analysis of the opinions and a rigorous and severe critique of Justice Roger B. Taney and the Dred Scott Decision. In 1865, President Lincoln appointed John Lowell as United States district judge for Massachusetts.
