Composed on the Tongue

Bolinas, California: Grey Fox Press, (1980).

Price: $250.00

Softcover. First edition. Perfectbound wrappers. Lightly rubbed, else near fine. Inscribed: "Allen Ginsberg signed for Elbert Lenrow Oct 7, 1980." And with an additional notation by Ginsberg adding a subtitle: "Literary Conventions 1967-'77." Lenrow was a professor at the New School who became friends with Jack Kerouac while he was still a student. Kerouac in turn introduced him to Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassidy, who would often gather at Lenrow's Central Park West apartment for informal discussions about life and literature. He later penned a book about his friendship with Kerouac and remained in contact with Ginsberg until Lenrow's death in 1993. A nice association.
