Softcover. First edition. Small octavo. 99pp. Illustrations from photographs. Gray wrappers printed in green. Tiny tear barely worthy of mention on front wrap, else fine. The author and a schoolmate, Adina M. Gidley, went West on the railroad, with a substantial visit to Bisbee, Arizona, where they toured the Holbrook Mine; about a third of the book is devoted to Bisbee and the mine. Cole traveled on to Castroville and Pacific Grove, California, and later visited Monterey, Santa Cruz, the Big Tree Grove, Fresno City, Reedly, and then returned to New York. Provides excellent commentary on the locations visited. The book is touchingly dedicated to the author's "Beloved Nieces." Curiously, of 20 copies noted in *OCLC*, all but two are held in the far West.
