Softcover. Mimeographed programs consisting of one leaf folded to make four pages with illustration of the U.S.S. Chester on the cover. Cheap paper is age-toned, tears at the edge of the spine fold, else very good. Program for both morning and evening religious services of January 27th, including a summary of the chaplain's message giving thanks that upon the completion of their current voyage, the ship and its crew will have completed their mission. U.S.S. Chester (CA-27) launched in 1929 was a Nothampton Class Cruiser and was heavily engaged during WWII, being bombed and torpedoed on several occasions, while having supported the Guadalcanal-Tulagi raid; the attack on Misima Island, Louisiade Archipelago; Abemama Island, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa; and was also heavily engaged in the Battle of the Coral Sea. After having evacuated troops from Iwo Jima to San Francisco, this mimeograph was from her final voyage, returning from San Francisco to her home port of Philadelphia. She was sold for scrap that June. Very cheaply produced and ephemeral pamphlet printed ship-board. *OCLC* locates no copies.
