Between the Covers

Hardcover. Photographic carte de visite. Image measures 2" x 3.5" mounted on 2.5" x 4" card with Fritz Knozer backmark. Faint spotting else near fine with "Marie 1918" written on the photo. A portrait of a young German or Austrian nurse, Marie, with a tiny red cross pinned on her neck. Presumably Marie served as a nurse during World War I, a position that was most likely voluntary.
