With a lithographic frontispiece plate (signed Pendeltons Lith.), and publisher's illustrated advertisement for "Juvenile Classics" on the last page. The binding is rubbed and worn at the edges and corners, frontispiece plate is detached, else a good copy with the original printed paper label (engraved by Alonzo Hartwell), laid-down on the front board. The octagonal label is lettered: "Juvenile Classicks. / Munroe & Francis. / 128, Washington St. Boston" with title "Cortez." printed at the center of the design. Munroe & Francis (established by David Francis and Edmund Monroe) operated on Court Street (circa 1805-1807) and Washington Street (circa 1823-1832). *Cortez*, the second tile in the Juvenile Classics series, followed the publication of the first title *Columbus* in 1828, thus our attribution of the date.
