The album contains attractive images depicting student life at St. Olaf College in the early teens. Thorough exploration of college life by a male student at the private liberal arts school founded in 1874 in Northfield, a historic river town of 20,000 in southeastern Minnesota, just 45 minutes from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. A variety of campus buildings are depicted, along with students engaged in college life. More specifically, the album contains four photographs of the alpine ski jump slide erected on campus, photographs of the theater, dining hall, interior of the gym, exterior shots of the library, etc., group shots of students’ athletic teams, including the baseball, football, “Hares and Hounds,” tennis, basketball, pole vaulting, etc. Additionally there are candid interior shots, including a student studying in a dorm, the dining hall, a common area, group shots of the cast of a blackfaced student minstrel show. A small section is devoted to the appreciation of gamin co-eds, who appear throughout the album as well. A very pleasing and well-composed album, depicting the halcyon days of college life in Minnesota, where, according to the photos, it occasionally snows.
