Softcover. An archive of publicity and other material related to Iggy Pop tours in 1977. Most of the material seems to come from Pop's PR firm, De Witt Public Relations, and includes publicity photos by important rock photographers, press clippings, concert itineraries, etc. An interesting overview of the immediate post-Stooges solo career of Iggy Pop. After the Stooges broke up (for the second time) in 1975, Pop went to Berlin with his friend, supporter, and sometimes collaborator David Bowie in order to tame his drug addiction. In 1976 he accompanied Bowie on tour, his first experience of large scale professional touring. In 1977 he signed with RCA to pursue a solo career, co-writing songs with Bowie, and touring extensively, often with Bowie in support on keyboards. His two albums from that period, *The Idiot* and *Lust for Life*, both co-produced by Bowie, were his most critically acclaimed as a solo artist. It's a little hard to overestimate the influence of Iggy on punk music and what follows, but we'll try. While his stage antics (rolling in broken glass and smearing himself with various substances) often overshadowed his music, his brand of hard rock, accompanied by the Stooges, and itself influenced by the MC5, became a prime proto-punk source that influenced and helped inform the mid-70s transition of hard rock into punk. Reportedly he performed the first intentional stage dive (as opposed to a long list of performers who would either just fall off stage because they were drunk or drugged; or in a few instances because they were preoccupied with assaulting an audience member). At any rate this is interesting and contemporary nuts-and-bolts primary source material from an important figure in the early days of an equally important transformation in rock music. A detailed list available upon request.
