Sold

Softcover. First edition. Quarto. [50]pp. Illustrated. Embossed buff wrappers. Some smudging on the wrappers, else near fine. A publication commemorating the Day of Peace, held on October 9, 1986. The Day of Peace was formulated by Barry White of RUN-D.M.C. in cooperation with Ed Kirby, the station manager of the pioneering L.A. hip hop radio station KDAY. The station aired a symposium with RUN-D.M.C. in which they invited callers to discuss gang violence and drugs in L.A. Gangs were urged to cease violence on the date, a peace which was for the most part observed. This publication features a collage of reproductions of clippings and news coverage of the event, as well as functions as a promotional piece for the station, highlighting several of their social programs and role in the community. A scarce and very uncommon document of hip hop in L.A. *OCLC* locates no copies.
