Hardcover. Three volume set. Folios. Volume 2 with a 1703 imprint, volumes 1 and 3 with 1704 imprints. An early edition of Lord Clarendon's great history, illustrated throughout with many fine engraved vignettes, initials, headpieces, and tailpieces by Michael Burghers. Volume 1 lacks the half-title and volume 3 lacks the frontispiece plate, else a complete set in original boards attached to the bands at the spine, without any covering material. An ex-library set with bookplates, paper labels on the rear free endpapers, and perforated stamp on the frontispiece portrait plates, title pages, and first text pages numbered in arabic. Early small ownership name, the front board of volumes 1 and 2 are detached, scattered soiling, overall a fair or better set.
