One Season Shattered

Philadelphia: Centaur Press, 1936.

Price: $350.00

Hardcover. First edition. Quarto. 97pp. Very good with the spine a bit cocked, some light rubbing and an indentation on the rear board near the foredge. Inscribed by the author to literary critic Rudolph Gilbert, whose book *Four Living Poets* included a chapter on Daly: "28 July 1942 'Toward that midnight of the mind whose far eye no one may hide.' Inscribed in admiration and affection for Rudolph Gilbert by James Daly." Laid in is a two-page poem typescript titled, "Four For Rudolph Gilbert"; a mimeographed copy of the Daly's five-page essay, "This Thing Called Poetry," which Gilbert quotes from in his book; and the trimmed rear panel from the dustwrapper of *One Season Shattered*. With an unmarked copy of *Four Living Poets* from the same collection of books and very likely Gilbert's personal copy.
