Softcover. First edition. A complete set of volumes 1-4 in 8 parts, and part 2 only of volume 5. Illustrated with tables and charts, and 4 engraved folding plates. All nine parts in the original illustrated wrappers: volume 1, parts 1 and 2 each with two folding plates at the rear, volume 3 part 2 with title and half-title pages and prefatory text bound in at the rear. A scarce part set of Conrad Malte-Brun's Geography with the publisher's tipped-in printed subscriber notices and advertisements present. Owner's inscription in ink on the front free endpapers, ex-library with perforated stamp and small shelf numbers on the front wraps. Scattered chipping to the spine backs, the first four leaves of part 2 of volume 4 (front free endpaper and pages 289-294) are damaged at the foredge, else a very good well-preserved set.
