A fantasy based on a passage in *Mr. and Mrs. Haddock Abroad*, a humorous book by his friend Donald Ogden Stewart, who was also the dedicatee of this play. Hope Montgomery Scott was the glamorous Philadelphia Mainline society woman who was the basis for the Tracy Lord character in *The Philadelphia Story*. Hope Montgomery Scott and her husband Edgar were lifelong friends of Philip and Ellen Barry.
