No webbing, hook and grommet closure in back, a style that has been associated with late 19th century gloves but no positive dating is available. No manufacturer's label or other identifying marks. Fair only. The front of the glove is stained and there is small tear with some loss of leather. At one point a leather strap stretched across from the thumb to the main compartment, and only a remnant of this remains, stitched to the glove at one end. The laces on the back of the glove are missing and the stitching at the base of the thumb has come undone. Despite its flaws, a very scarce example of this early mitt in sufficient condition to be handled and displayed.
